When is the right age to stop a kid from drinking milk from a bottle and start with a glass?

Hi Michayla,
Most babies have the motor skills to drink from a cup once they're about 9 months old. Be warned though, the longer babies hang onto their bottles, the more attached they get to them. You can try filling a sippy cup with cool boiled water and letting your child experiment with it. He should dribble and spit as he tries it out initially, but should start getting the hang of it within a few weeks. Hope this helps! Regard Mark http://earlychildcare.wordpress.com/ |

I had my three kids in the States and we're advised to wean babies from bottle before they turn one!
I exclusively breastfed my twin girls till 8 months and then have to supplement with formula using a bottle. I gone cold turkey with my girls and they went off their bottles within 2 days! By one year old, they were using straw cups to drink milk. When they started solid, they drank water out of a sippy cup. I'm now exclusively breastfeeding my baby boy who is almost 11 months now. He has not use a bottle and I don't plan to introduce it to him. Will be starting him on straw cup soon. That will be the easiest once I wean him off from breastfeeding. He is drinking water out of a sippy cup since 6 months old. |
